What is Eyelash Lift and Tint?

natural curly lashes

A lash lift-and-tint treatment involves two separate processes, both designed to give you beautiful, fluttery eyelashes for weeks. The lash lift mimics the effect of an eyelash curler. It makes your lashes bend upwards, leaving them looking longer, and your eyes more open and bright. Meanwhile, a lash tint is similar to a brow tint – or applying several coats of mascara. It makes your eyelashes look darker, thicker, and fuller. It’s particularly striking on those with naturally blonde or red lashes.

Lash Lift

The natural shape, direction, and thickness of your eyelashes will determine how dramatic your results are. If your lashes lie almost flat – or even point downwards – you’ll see a big difference after having a lifting treatment. Most women notice their eyes look more open, brighter, younger, and more ‘awake’ following their lash lift. Additionally, the eyelashes themselves will appear far longer, fuller, and more defined.

During the lash lift and tint process, your master esthetician will first select a silicone perm rod that fits your eyelashes. Then, the lashes will be glued to the perm rod using an oil-soluble adhesive. From there, the service is a 4-part process. The master esthetician will apply a perming solution to the eyelashes to curl them in the direction of the curl rod, then will set the curl in place using a setting solution. The next step is the tint. Similar to hair dye, the master esthetician will apply an eye-safe tint to the lashes to darken them. Finally, the stylist uses an oil to remove the lashes from the curl rod and nourish the lashes as well.

Think lash extensions are already low-maintenance? Lash lift and tints are even more so. With a lift and tint, you don’t have to avoid products like oil, waterproof mascara, or lotions. Lash extensions also require slightly more frequent maintenance. With lash extensions, fill appointments are about every 2-3 weeks. With lash lift and tints, maintenance appointments range from 4-6 weeks.

Lash lift and tints are great for clients who want something more natural, or who are looking for something even more low-maintenance than extensions. They are also ideal for those of us who are naturally blessed with long, thick eyelashes. Here is a beautiful before and after of a lift and tint service. Lash Lift Aftercare

Avoid water, steam, eye make-up, and make-up remover for the first 24 hours after your lift. As with any perming treatment, exposure to moisture and humidity straight afterward can ruin the result. After 24 hours have elapsed, you can treat your lashes as usual – there’s no need to change your make-up routine or stop cleansing your face. Some professionals advise using a conditioning treatment like coconut oil to keep your lashes healthy and nourished post-lift.

Brow Lamination

WHAT IS BROW LAMINATION?

Brow lamination is a new, innovative beauty treatment that has continued to grow in popularity, recreating the trending look of thick, bushy brows. Brow lamination is great for those who love a ‘brushed-up’ look but can’t seem to tame their brow hair due to it being too straight or fine.

IS BROW LAMINATION PERMANENT?

Generally, brow lamination lasts from four to six weeks. Depending on how well you look after your brows, it can last up to eight weeks. After the four to six-week period, it’s recommended that you get your brows re-laminated in order to maintain the look over a longer period of time.

HOW LONG DOES A BROW LAMINATION TREATMENT TAKE?

The brow lamination process itself doesn’t take very long; only around 15-20 minutes. Some brow lamination treatments also include the tinting and/or waxing of brows before or after, which altogether can take around 30-40 minutes.

WHAT DOES THE BROW LAMINATION PROCESS INVOLVE?

Consultation: Your brow expert will perform a full consultation with you, with brow mapping to discover your perfect brow style.

Step one: After cleansing the brows, your tech will place brows in an upward position using brow fix to ensure all Brow Lamination solutions target the brow from the root to the tip. This solution holds the brows in place throughout the treatment.

Step two: Brow solution 1 is applied to the brows. This cream creates a chemical process that breaks down the bonds in each hair, allowing them to be manipulated into a new shape. Solution is left on the brows for a predetermined time depending on the condition of the hair.

Step three: Brow Set 2 is applied the brows. This solution sets the hair in its new position. Solution is left on the brows for a predetermined time depending on the condition of the hair.

Step four: Optional Tinting. Brows can be tinted to add color to the brows and to enhance the results of the treatment.

Step five: The brows are brushed into their desired position – this position is adjustable depending on the look you would like to achieve. Brows can be brushed up or brushed into a more natural shape.

CAN I LAMINATE MY BROWS AT HOME?

It’s not advised that you try this treatment on yourself at home, or on anyone else without undertaking professional training first.. Due to the chemicals involved, it’s a treatment a trained beauty therapist should perform.

IS BROW LAMINATION THE SAME AS A LASH LIFT?

Brow lamination is almost like a perm for your eyebrows; similar to the well-known lash lift treatment. They’re both ways of enhancing what you already have by manipulating the hairs with chemicals. The treatment is often paired with a brow tint for a bolder enhanced look.

It’s quite common for clients to decide they’d like both lash lift and brow lamination treatments at once as they’re both great for enhancing your natural look.

IS PATCH TESTING REQUIRED BEFORE BROW LAMINATION?

Patch testing can be performed prior to the treatment however patch testing is not required for brow lamination solutions from Hi Brow. Your technician may offer you a test as a precaution. Patch testing can also be performed if you have sensitive skin – it is best to speak to your technician in advance of the treatment about this.

The only solutions in a brow lamination treatment which require a patch test prior to use are any tinting products. Tinting is an optional add-on to brow lamination treatments.

IS BROW LAMINATION WORTH IT?

Brow lamination is a safe treatment which can give you naturally fuller looking eyebrows after just one treatment. It’s a more affordable option compared to other brow treatments such as Microblading and has immediate results that last. It’s a treatment to consider if you’d like a new look that can be easily maintained.

Not only this, but it’s currently very on trend – so now’s the right time to get your brows laminated if you wanted to give this new look a try!
